What Is A QR Code Photo Booth And How Does It Work?
Learn what a virtual photo booth is, how it works, the different types available, and why they're becoming increasingly popular for events.
When you hear the words "virtual photo booth," what comes to mind? If you're like most people, you probably think of those fun kiosks at the mall that let you take pictures with your friends and then print them out on the spot. While that is one type, there are actually many different types of virtual photo booths.
What is a Virtual Photo Booth?
A virtual photo booth is a digital version of the traditional photo booth you'd find at a carnival or amusement park. Instead of using a physical space, a virtual photo booth uses a computer to create a fun and festive environment for taking photos that can be applied for in-person events. You can choose from a variety of virtual backgrounds, props, messages, and filters.
Event guests step in front of the booth and have their photo taken either in front of a wall backdrop or green screen. Then, they can choose to have their photo printed out or sent to themselves via email or text message. Having a virtual photo booth does not require a download and can sometimes be accessed via QR code.
Types of Virtual Photo Booths
Standard Photo Booth: Usually consists of a small enclosure with space for one or two people. Guests can pose for photos, which are then printed out. Some also offer sharing photos electronically via email or social media.
Social Media Photo Booth: Much like a standard photo booth, but with the option to share photos on social media directly from the booth. This is a great way to create buzz about your event as guests share their experiences with their networks.
GIF Photo Booth: A fun and unique way to liven up your event. Guests pose for a series of photos which are combined into a short GIF—a hilarious and memorable memento that can be shared again and again.
Physical vs. Digital Photos
Each method can produce either physical or digital photos. Physical photos are tangible—you can hold them, pass them around, put them in an album or frame them. Digital photos are easy to share with friends and family far away, and you can store unlimited numbers without worrying about loss or damage.
Why Are Virtual Photo Booths So Popular?
Virtual photo booths are more affordable than traditional photo booths, more convenient because they can be set up anywhere with an internet connection, and offer a wider range of options like backgrounds and props. They're also more eco-friendly and provide an opportunity for guests to interact with each other and create lasting memories.
